lay of the land

The Grounds

Wonderlust Acres is nestled between two ridges, granting the property a sense of protection and intimacy. The picturesque landscape creates an inspiring backdrop for a variety of gatherings and functions. Your event takes center stage against an idyllic mountain backdrop complemented by the tumbling Little Fork Creek and three tranquil ponds stocked with trout, bass, and koi.

Just finished: a professionally-designed 10-basket disc golf course and a loop hiking trail, which connects glampers from the lower meadow to Moriah Knoll, where the higher vantage point offers a view of the layered Blue Ridge Mountains. The land is peaceful but alive with the subtle energy of the surrounding hills. This is a place where curiosity is encouraged, the heart is emboldened, and a child-like sense of wonder is reinvigorated.
New for 2023: The WonderBar, a smaller barn perched above the main gathering space, consists of a covered patio with outdoor bistro table sitting for 20, and an outdoor upper seating area with magical lighting and tables for 64 people), a bar set up for your bartender that serves inside, and the patio; and the indoor space includes a large game room with a pool table, big-screen TVs, and a comfy seating lounge!

THE VENUES

A distinguished 3,800-square-foot timber-frame barn, accommodating up to 240 people (more than 200 guests subject to owner approval), constructed with materials sourced from the property, is the premier event venue at Wonderlust Acres. It’s perfect for not only weddings, but corporate retreats, music festivals, and family reunions! Three glass garage-bay doors welcome guests and allow for seamless indoor and outdoor entertaining. A wall of sliding glass doors on the north end of the barn opens to a 720-square-foot covered patio, so even when the weather is uncooperative, you can continue to enjoy the pastoral views.

The barn maximizes the use of natural light, but when the sun does go down, custom-built wagon-wheel chandeliers illuminate the space, creating a romantic and inviting setting for evening events. A stately hearth, crafted with native stone from Little Fork Creek, provides warmth and comfort for year-round entertaining.

The heated, 4-season barn also includes men’s/women’s ADA compliant, heated bathrooms, dressing rooms, a separate electrical source for live music, and a standard kitchen that can be used as a warming or finishing kitchen by caterers. The Wonderbarn is also food truck compatible, with parking and a 50 amp outlet on a separate breaker. It also has plenty of guest parking separate from the handicap and event crew parking at the barn.

Lakeside Pavilion & Dock

For smaller outdoor events (around 50 people), the Fishing Pond features a large floating dock and 12×16 timber-frame pavilion that is a perfect set-up to enjoy the gorgeous mountain backdrop and ponds, while taking in the peaceful sounds of the creek.
